Visit Normandy, an untamed land with warm-hearted people. You will enjoy a unique experience as you get to know the French way of life, cuisine, and the breathtaking gardens in this region of incredible beauty. The house where you will stay is at the heart of your visit and has been photographed for various international interior design magazines. Each room has its unique personality and tells a different story, with diverse objects from all around the world. In itself, the house is an invitation to go on a journey, located in the center of the village, and you will have all the time you need to make the most of it during your holiday.

 

During your visit you will discover the following: 

 

- The secrets of a gourmet, hearty cuisine and of dishes prepared together through cooking classes 
- Farmers' markets where you will have direct contact with the producers of the goods on offer, the people who grow the fruits and vegetables which are famous throughout the country for their incredible flavour
- A region abundant in cheese, crème fraîche, cider, and Calvados brandy
- Beautiful, hidden places and - notably - flamboyant gardens, unrivalled in their beauty throughout Europe
- A spa that has retained all of its authenticity, culture, and history
- Beaches, shingle, and cliffs - typical features of the stunning Normandy landscape

 

Not long after your arrival, we will start to guide you towards the best the region has to offer. Above all, we will be paying homage to the area's cuisine, enjoying long walks to aid in digestion, and taking time to revitalize ourselves. The salty sea air will perk you up and recharge your batteries with a new and invigorating energy.

ITINERARY (Arrival can be any day but Friday would work best with departure on Thursday)

 

DAY ONE - FRIDAY

 

Your adventure begins on Friday, from 4 p.m. The home where you will stay is two hours and fifteen minutes from Paris. It is very easy to get there by train or by car. If you arrive by train, your hosts will be there at the station to pick you up. 

 

First, you will discover the house where you will be based for the week. You will get the opportunity to settle yourselves in your room.

 

In order to get to know each other in the best possible conditions, our first shared activity will be right on the beach!  This will take place in a beach hut which is typical of this region. You will  be served a pre-dinner drink to enjoy, surrounded by the grey-blue shingle for which this beach is renowned.

 

Continuing with the evening, you will be served a welcome dinner at the house. Your incredible self trained chef will create some of the best specialties of the region for you. 

 

DAY TWO - SATURDAY

 

On Saturday morning, the entire town center is transformed into a huge market. With more than 250 farmers offering their produce, this market is one of the largest in Normandy. (If arrival day is other than a Friday, a different market will be visited). We will set out to get to know the amazing people who - each day - cultivate their soil and care for their animals in order to give us the very best. And we will choose the perfect foods to use when preparing dinner.

 

For lunch, we will make our way to a spot a few kilometers away for a chic picnic near a castle. In this historic, well preserved place, where prestigious figures have been born, we will experience a moment of magic with the owners, who will also take us to visit their wonderfully breathtaking vegetable garden. Pure sensation is assured!

 

During the afternoon, we will make an informal visit to the local village so that you can discover this cultural city of one thousand resources.

 

At around 5 p.m., it's the moment you've all been waiting for: Time to prepare dinner together for the first time. With an expert hand, your chef will teach you how to prepare a starter, main course, and dessert using just the specialties of the region. 

 

DAY THREE - SUNDAY

 

We will start off with an active morning: A long walk to get your lungs going and work up an appetite! Following our visit to the charming marine cemetery, where great artists such as Braque are buried, we will walk to one of the most beautiful of the nearby attractions: The Jardin de Moutiers gardens. Around an Arts & Crafts house which is more than 100 years old, gardens of several hectares show off the amazing delights of nature.

 

For lunch, we will remain nearby and visit a renowned restaurant situated right by the sea, where oysters and other seafood specialties await us in an interior that has retained a typical 1950s design. An experience not to be missed.

 

After all this activity, we will need some time out, and will spend the rest of the afternoon on the beach. At around 5 p.m., it will be time to go back to the house, where we will share the dinner preparations for the second time. 

 

DAY FOUR - MONDAY

  

Today's theme is local products and produce. We will travel down the coast to visit one of the most famous liqueur-producers in France: Bénédictine de Fécamp. This is a really historic place and an architectural gem. In their cellar, we will find out about how they produce their liqueur. And then will be able to taste it for ourselves. A highlight of your visit!

 

Lunch will be very picturesque, too, since we will be eating at a farm, or at at very authentic table of the region!

 

We ‘ll spend this afternoon having a nice walk and visiting one of the most charming villages in Normandy: Veules-les-Roses. This place is very well known for watercress production, as we‘ll see as we make our way along the riverbank

 

After this busy day, there will be a light dinner at one of the region's lovely restaurants. 

 

DAY FIVE - TUESDAY

 

You simply can't come to Normandy without going to see how Calvados brandy is produced! We will go to an orchard just a few kilometers from the house to see how cider and Calvados brandy are made. After a detailed explanation of the production process, we will have earned the right to have a taste.

 

For lunch, there will be a visit somewhere that is a little out of the ordinary: A private pond next to which we will enjoy a big barbecue. It is an untamed, honest bit of nature. (Take note: There's no running water or toilet facilities here. It's a TRUE adventure!)

 

In the evening, you will have carte blanche to go and discover the heart of the village for yourself. Your hosts will be happy to tell you about the places that you really must see! 

 

DAY SIX - WEDNESDAY

 

Your last full day is going to be a rather active one. Between the sea and the countryside, enjoy a long 5-hour walk that will allow you to discover the beautiful landscape. We will eat a very simple lunch - prepared together before leaving - during the walk.

 

In the afternoon, following our return, we will prepare our last dinner together, guided by your chef.

 

Finally, we will enjoy the fruits of our labor in a festive atmosphere.

 

DAY SEVEN - THURSDAY

 

After breakfast, it's time to say a fond farewell.
