Imagine yourself hiking the solitary routes in the Slovenian Alps, exploring Triglav National Park's breathtaking scenery, admiring the wonderful Bohinj & Bled lakes, as well as the Soca River Valley. In the spectacular high highlands of Triglav National Park, you will stay two nights in a mountain hut. You will taste the diverse Slovenian food and will eat at a three Michelin star restaurant. Taste different Slovenian wines and explore various Slovenian regions.

 
On this 8-day hiking and culinary adventure, discover the Julian Alps, get in touch with nature and sample regional specialties of Slovenian food and wine. Enjoy the stunning Lake Bohinj and the renowned, gorgeous Lake Bled.

On the 3-day hut-to-hut portion of the trip, take in the stunning beauty of high mountain lakes and limestone peaks while learning about the shepherds' customs.

Visit the old town of Kobarid, a blend of nature, history, and amazing food, and take in the breathtaking Soca River Valley, one of the most beautiful river valleys in the world. Leave the Triglav National Park's mountain routes and enter Goriska Brda's vineyards. Try some of the regional cuisine and local wine.  

ITINERARY 

Day One 

 

ARRIVAL IN LJUBLJANA

After arrival in Ljubljana explore the city center and medieval old town. Walk through the vibrant marketplace while admiring the bridges along the riverbanks. When you visit Ljubljana Castle, treat yourself to stunning city views from Outlook Tower of the castle. After meeting with the guide and other guests you will go to a welcome dinner enjoying typical Slovenian cuisine.

Overnight in Ljubljana.

Day Two

 

LAKE BLED, VINTGAR GORGE, LAKE BOHINJ

You will start today visiting the world-famous Lake Bled, a picture-postcard lake with an island chapel and a fairy-tale medieval castle perched on a cliff above the lake. A trip through the stunning Bled Vintgar Gorge, a narrow canyon, will be an excellent place to start. We will take a quick hike up a hill with the best view in the world after lunch. Bled custard-cream cake is a regional specialty that you must try. We will continue to the alpine valley of glacial Lake Bohinj, which is situated in the center of the Triglav National Park.

Day Three 

HIKING IN THE JULIAN ALPS

In the early morning we will start our three-day HUT to HUT hiking trip. While strolling across the lush meadows of the picturesque Alpine pastures, we shall pass shepherds' huts. We will keep going through difficult terrain until we reach mountain ridges with some of the most breathtaking views in the Slovenian Alps.

We will spend the night in a mountain hut where we can see the peaks in the area and watch the sun go down!

DAY FOUR 

HIKING IN THE VALLEY OF THE 7 TRIGLAV LAKES

We will enter the Valley of the Seven Triglav Lakes and experience a rising and falling trip through rocky terrain to start this very exceptional day. The gorgeous mountain trail will lead us to stunning alpine lakes and provide breathtaking views. Following the picturesque trail, we will arrive at the valley and enter one of Europe's most breathtaking high-altitude alpine valleys, a mountain lover's delight. You will be able to understand why Triglav National Park is also known as the Kingdom of the Golden Horn and is a source of pride for all Slovenians because of the breathtaking views and stunning mountains. You will spend the night right beside one of the picturesque lakes, in a mountain hut.

DAY FIVE 

 

HIKING IN THE JULIAN ALPS, SWIM IN LAKE JASNA

We will enter the country of the Alpine pastures after leaving the rugged landscape and tallest peaks behind. You will enjoy the stunning views of the Bohinj region as you make your way back. We will go by some typical shepherd huts where people still live the way they always have and stop in one of the huts to sample some authentic Slovenian treats. We will travel on to the lovely Kranjska Gora village and Lake Jasna where you can swim in the crystal clear lake or just admire the reflection of the mountais in the lake. A delicious Slovenian dinner will spice up the day and this amazing hiking adventure in the Julian Alps.

DAY SIX 

HIKING VRŠIČ PASS & EXPLORE SOČA RIVER VALLEY & THREE MICHELIN STAR SLOW FOOD EXPERIENCE

In the morning we will continue on the picturesque mountain route to Vrsic pass (1625m). We will take a short hike on the rocky terrain to Sleme from the plateau on the pass, where you can take in the breathtaking scenery and feel the magnificence of the mountains. After lunch you will visit the historic town of Kobarid and the Soca River Valley, one of the world's most beautiful and pristine river valleys.

The evening is reserved for a culinary experience. A slow food dinner prepared by one of the most innovatie chefs, Ana Ros, at her restaurant Hisa Franko with three Michelin stars (Star of Netflix’s Chef’s Table – Season 2) and World's Best Female Chef  for 2017 by the World's 50 Best Restaurants organization and 21 Best Restaurant in the World for 2021.

DAY SEVEN 

KOZJAK WATERFALLS AND VINEYARDS OF GORIŠKA BRDA

The day will begin with a relaxing stroll along the Soca River, which will lead us to the charming, secret Kozjak Waterfalls and its stunning pool. You will have time before lunch to see the World War I Museum and discover the local history.

After lunch, we will travel along a charming route to Slovenia's winegrowing region-Goriska Brda, known as Slovenian Tuscany. You will enjoy the Mediterranean landscape, land of gently rolling hills, covered with vineyards, orchards and small villages. You will visit one of the best preserved medieval villages in this area and also Slovenia, village Smartno. 

In the family run tourist farm you will enjoy a farewell dinner. Each dish will be served with a selection of our host's wine. Together, we will raise a toast to a great hiking adventure in Slovenia.

DAY EIGHT 

GOODBYE SLOVENIA

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Ljubljana for your next adventure.
